For solar companies
Is ChatGPT recommending your company — or the one across town?
In July 2026 we benchmarked 1,043 solar companies by asking ChatGPT the questions your customers ask. Only 10% were ever recommended. Everyone else was invisible — and their customers went to the companies that weren't.

Why this matters to your next install
45%
of homeowners now ask ChatGPT for recommendations before hiring.
10%
of solar companies ever get named when it answers. The rest don't exist to the homeowner asking.
1 in 10
solar companies makes the list. We benchmarked 1,043 across 30 markets — 108 ever came up.
Every market page on this site lists the solar companies ChatGPT actually recommends — for rooftop installs, and for panel cleaning. If your company is there, that visibility is bringing you jobs right now, and it's worth defending. If it isn't, those jobs are going to someone else, and nothing about the quality of your installs will change that until AI can find you.
The good news: this isn't a big-budget game, and the national brands don't own it — we leave them out of the measurement entirely. The companies winning AI recommendations are local businesses with strong reviews, clear websites, and consistent local listings. Things any company can fix.

How do I get my company on the list?
You can't pay us — no one can. The only way onto the list is to actually be recommended by ChatGPT when we run the next quarterly benchmark. The companies with strong reviews, a clear website, and consistent business listings are the ones AI keeps naming. The free audit shows you where you stand today and what's holding you back.
I'm already on the list. What now?
First: it's real, and it's worth protecting — every edition re-measures from scratch, and rankings move. The companies that stay visible keep winning the homeowners who ask AI first. The free audit works for you too: it shows whether your position is solid or slipping.
Is the free audit really free?
Yes. It takes about 60 seconds, and you'll see how your company shows up in AI search — no credit card, no obligation. It's run by Fast Digital Marketing, the Tampa-based team behind this benchmark.
Why should I care what ChatGPT says, especially now?
Because leads got more expensive and there are fewer of them. The 30% federal credit for homeowners ended on December 31, 2025, and the whole trade is fighting over a smaller pool of buyers. A paid click on a solar search runs about $20 to $26 in most markets and as much as $58 in places like Pittsburgh. Every homeowner who asks ChatGPT instead of clicking an ad is a lead nobody paid for — and right now it goes to whichever handful of companies AI happens to name.
Do you cover national installers too?
No. We filter the big national brands and dealer networks out of the dataset before we measure. These lists are a scoreboard for independent local companies, because that's who a homeowner is choosing between when they want someone local to stand behind the work.
